Is Construction Essential?

Image
Some have asked why construction continues during stay orders? I read New York recently halted construction, but it continues in DFW. Here's some around the neighborhood this morning. Bye bye Office Depot I can't imagine this will be around long

Stay Calm and Keep Your Distance

What has changed in your routine since the Coronavirus pandemic began? It's hard to maintain six feet of distance on the Katy Trail that runs through Oak Lawn and Uptown, so tonight we headed to the Skyline Trail on the levee that runs above the Trinity River. I only brought my phone, but I'd like to share some views. It is easier to maintain your distance here. The views are great, but the insects seem to be more numerous and walking here often might become monotonous more quickly because most everything you see is in the distance. Still, it's a great place to hang out, a great place to take city shots and I am glad it's nearby.

"And that's because they were ashamed of how they behaved," the New York Times columnist says. "And so this is going to be not only a health crisis and a financial crisis. It's how we treat each other is going to deteriorate and we're not going to like who we're about to become." It reminded me of something I saw earlier on Twitter: why do we think the 1918 pandemic figures so little in the art of the 1920s? or am I just reading the wrong stuff — Jake Anbinder (@JakeAnbinder) March 15, 2020 I've been collecting some photos and screenshots that give a small glimpse into how we are behaving as we face this unparalleled financial and humanitarian crisis. ...

PCCs on McKinney, Dallas

Image
The streetcars in San Francisco are more numerous, but not more interesting than those in Dallas. This car was parking on McKinney this morning awaiting Sunday runs. It's one recently added to our fleet. And here's one passing the Palace Hotel in San Francisco:
